This Sabertooth Cat, Hoplophoneus primaevus Skull in matrix belongs to a group of Oligocene sabertooth cats that are found throughout the lower Brule (Drellan) and into the upper Brule (Whitneyan). This very rare specimen was discovered in the lower Brule sediments.
