The Malay word "orangutan" means "old man of the forest". Orangutans have impressive canine teeth and the longest snout of the three great apes. Restricted to the lowland swamp forests in Borneo, and a small part of Sumatra, there are only about 60,000 orangutans left alive in the wild. This endangered species verges on extinction.Larger than our Borneo, with an impressive sagittal crest.
